EFG Hermes Hosts First Egypt Capital Markets Day at the London Stock Exchange
More than 125 investors representing 62 prominent global firms attended the London Stock Exchange’s first Egypt Capital Markets Day (ECMD) on Friday, 28 November 2008, to meet with 10 leading EGX-listed companies and senior government officials.
The event was organized by EFG Hermes and co-hosted by Sherif Cararah, Head of Securities Brokerage and Country Head KSA, and Massimo Capuano, Deputy Chief Executive of the LSE.
ECMD took place at the LSE’s premises in London. Investors’ demand for one-on-one time with the 10 Egyptian companies was so great that the firm added a day of pre-event meetings on Thursday, 27 November.
"We're delighted Egypt Capital Markets Day at the LSE was such a resounding success,"said Sherif Cararah."This is the newest of the many platforms EFG Hermes uses to promote for investment in the Egyptian Market and Egyptian Companies."
Cararah said the event was a “good chance for Egyptian companies to update international investors on their strategies and plans to face the current global financial crisis and to promote investment in the Egyptian market.”
In addition to meeting with C-suite executives of participating companies, investors had the opportunity to interact with Minister of Investment Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin and EGX Chairman Maged Shawky.
The LSE’s Capuano says, “We hope that Egypt Capital Markets Day will be the first of several MENA-focused events we will host at the London Stock Exchange with EFG Hermes.”
The EGX-listed companies that participated in the LSE’s Egypt Capital Markets Day included Commercial International Bank (CIB), El Sewedy Cables, GB Auto, Maridive, SODIC, Mobinil, Orascom Construction Industries, Talaat Moustafa Group, Telecom Egypt and EFG Hermes.
