EFG Hermes Ranked Best 2012 Brokerage Firm in the UAE by EMEA Finance-English
EFG Hermes Securities Brokerage recognized for outstanding performance in the United Arab Emirates for the second time in three years
Dubai, UAE — EFG Hermes, the leading investment bank in the Arab world, has been named Best Broker in the UAE by EMEA Finance at the fifth annual 2012 Middle East Banking Awards. This is the second time in three years that the EFG Hermes Brokerage Team has received this prestigious industry recognition for its impressive performance in the UAE.
“The recognition we have received for our brokerage services in the UAE is a reflection of the hard work and excellence of our team,” said Mohamed Ebeid, Co-Head of EFG Hermes Brokerage. “The UAE has a dynamic financial market that requires the experienced approach of industry professionals to capitalize on the opportunities available,” he added.
EFG Hermes first launched its brokerage activities in the UAE in 2004, as a second regional hub after Egypt. The firm was the first to receive a number one ranking twice in three years (2009-2011) on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM) and for two consecutive years (2009-2010) on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange (ADX). By the end of 2012, EFG Hermes had maintained a robust market share of 12.38% on the DFM and increased its market share on the ADX to 13.82%, solidifying its ranking among the top-three ranked brokers in both UAE markets combined. EFG Hermes UAE has a diversified client base of more than 19,000 clients including retail, high net worth individuals, family offices as well as regional and foreign institutions.
The firm has added more than 350 new clients in 2012 and remains the undisputed market leader when it comes to institutional clients with a significant market share of executions in 2012.
EFG Hermes UAE continues to cater to the needs of an expanding retail market. In 2012 the firm acquired a license to carry out margin trading facilities on the Emirati exchanges. This development is set to not only benefit EFG Hermes’ retail clients, but also help boost overall trading volumes on the DFM and ADX. Significant improvements were also made to the online trading platform including a soon-to-be-launched application that will run on iPad and iPhone.
“Year after year, we continue to provide our institutional, high-net-worth and individual clients with unrivaled service and expertise to help them reach their investment goals,” said Ahmed Waly, Co-Head of EFG Hermes Brokerage and CEO of EFG Hermes IFA in Kuwait. “In a competitive international financial market like the UAE, we also distinguish ourselves from competitors with the unique corporate access that we provide to senior and executive management teams of publicly listed equities on both the DFM and the ADX.”
EFG Hermes will collect this award, as well as the honor of Best Broker in Kuwait, at a Charity Dinner in Dubai’s Jumeirah Emirates Towers on Monday, April 22, 2013.
