​EFG Hermes Securities Brokerage Named Best Middle East Broker at EMEA Finance Middle East Banking Awards 2014 The firm was also named Best Broker in Kuwait and Jordan as well as Best Broker in Egypt at EMEA Finance Magazine’s Annual African Banking Awards held earlier in the year 14 April 2015 Cairo, Egypt — EFG Hermes, the leading investment bank in the Arab world, announced today that EFG Hermes Securities Brokerage has been awarded “Best Middle East Broker” at the EMEA Finance Middle East Banking Awards 2014. The Securities Brokerage division was also named “Best Broker” in Jordan and Kuwait, the latter of which it earned for the fifth time, as well as “Best Broker” in Egypt at EMEA Finance’s African Banking Awards. “We are deeply honoured to receive this award, which we consider to be a testament to the strength and success of our efforts to serve MENA markets with innovative, state-of-the-art products that enhance user experience and that are backed by world-class research,” said Ahmed Waly, Co-Head of Securities Brokerage and Chief Executive Officer of EFG Hermes IFA. “The recognition also highlights Securities Brokerage’s unrivalled strength in raising equity for IPO’s which — in 2014 — included the USD 110 million IPO of Arabian Cement Company (ACC), Egypt’s first since 2011. This year we look forward to more public offerings in our home market of Egypt,” said Mohamed Ebeid, Co-Head of Securities Brokerage. “Also in Egypt, as one of our initiatives to enhance user experience, we are in the process of opening a branch in Assiut. This move expands our branch network in the under-served Upper Egyptian market and is intended to provide our clients there with convenient access to our world-class services.” As of FY14, the Securities Brokerage division remained the number-one ranked broker in Egypt, improved its ranking in Kuwait from 3rd to 2nd, ranked 3rd on the ADX, and maintained its position in Dubai where it ranked 6th on the DFM and 1st on the NASDAQ Dubai. In KSA the division also maintained a leading position ranking first amongst foreign brokers. In Oman and Jordan, the Securities Brokerage division gained significant market share and recorded a remarkable improvement in ranking in FY14. In the Jordanian market EFG Hermes Brokerage moved up to 3rd place from a 12th place ranking in 2013 and in Oman the firm moved up to 4th place from 7th in FY13. EFG Hermes’ top-notch rankings and robust market shares on both the institutional and retail sides of the business are a further acknowledgement of the firm’s outstanding ability to provide multi-market access, innovative trading platforms and experienced on-the-ground teams. The EMEA Finance accolades highlight Securities Brokerage’s unrivaled strength in raising equity for regional IPOs, including — in 2014 — the milestone Emirates REIT IPO, with a coverage rate of 3.5x, on Nasdaq Dubai, and the heavily over-subscribed USD 1.6 billion Emaar Malls Group IPO, the largest the UAE market has seen in years and one of the most anticipated offerings in the region this year.
